FAQ

How far can I go on one battery?
Minimum 200-400 meters with a load of 100 kg. The range on a full battery is very much depending on the load, speed and temperature. The high power lithium batteries used are however extremely small and light weigth (1,6 kg) and you can easily store and and connect a second battery in the accessories bag on the ACC.This gives you a total range of 400 to 800 meters of ascending/descending!
How fast is the ACC? Can the speed be adjusted?
The speed can be continiously adjusted from 0 to 22 meters per minute in both directions.
Is there a risk that the ACC will switch off due to over heating when used intensively?
NO. The motor ofthe ACC is dimensioned so this is very unlikely to happend.
What kind of ropes can I use with the power ascenders?
ActSafes powered rope ascenders are all equipped with our rope grab system designed for EN 1891 ropes with diameter 10 to 13 mm. However note that not all EN 1891 ropes performs in a similar way. As a rule of the thumb one can say that extremely soft ropes should be avoided. A hint to increase the lifetime and to get an excellent performance with our power ascenders is to soak the rope in cold water for some hours before the first use. This increases the friction between the kern and the mantel. It also makes the fibres to shrink in legth and instaed increase in diameter, making the rope stiffer and the mantle less likely to slip.
When using the ACC for lifting in a fixed position, do I have to use the batteries or can I connect it to the mains supply?
The battery charger can not be used as a power supply. There is however a power supply for the ACC under development. It will be availible autumn 2009. It can preferably be used when the ACC is used for lifting in a fix position.
